This immersive journey invites participants to explore the five rhythms—Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness—through movement, breath, and embodied awareness. Designed to cultivate presence, creativity, and emotional expression, this workshop offers a supportive space to deepen self-connection and experience the therapeutic power of dance.
About Karen ChapmanKaren Chapman is an accredited 5Rhythms® teacher based in Asheville, North Carolina, and has been teaching since 2016. She brings a grounded, heart-centered presence to her work, drawing from both her movement training and her lifelong connection to education and the natural world. Karen uses she/her pronouns and resides on the ancestral land of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, Koharie, Haliwa, Band of Saponi, Lumbee, Meherrin, Occaneechi, Waccamaw-Siouan, and Catawba peoples.Coming from a family of educators, Karen is deeply committed to community learning and youth development. She serves as an Assistant Teacher for grades 4 and 5, a school bus driver, and the Garden Coordinator at W.D. Williams Elementary School in Swannanoa, NC. Her love for outdoor education extends into the summer months, where she teaches at an outdoor camp through the North Carolina Arboretum, guiding children in understanding and appreciating the natural world. Her passions include trees, mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and the study of plant life. At home, she shares her space with her beloved cat, Katan.Karen is devoted to living a healthy, intentional lifestyle and remains open to continual learning and new possibilities. Her commitment to the 5Rhythms® movement practice reflects her belief in movement as a gateway to healing, connection, and embodied awareness.
